  1. i always tell people that corporate work should only be used to gather capital for the eventual transition to entrepreneurship. yes after some time it gets boring but the extra family time, the flexibility and health toll are totally worth it.

  2. the long work hours attributed to: 1) long meetings (less chit-chat pls) 2) demanding perfection 3) avoiding govt fines for late reporting 4) clients changing their minds. 5) unrealistic deadline and corporations sacrificing their workers to exceed expectations.

  3.  @gaoda1581  the 996 culture is only for certain industries and are all exclusive to high paying jobs - this is the same in every country. some of it is the govt's fault for imposing tight deadlines on reporting, more of it is the corporation's fault for not investing in efficiency & demanding perfection but, most of it is the client's whims yet insisting on unnecessary timeliness (which the corp happily obliged at the expense of the workers). this is why my meetings rarely last more than 20 minutes because i expect everyone to read the materials and prepare their ideas beforehand. bosses can steal some time napping in their private office but no such luck for those on the open floor.
