i had an excellent east asian mother. today every adult in my family is an accomplished expert in their field and not a single one regrets our mother's teaching style that kept us away from a loser's fate of making <$15/hour.

i have no idea how my high school math teacher conducted class but he has always been my favorite teacher. this is because he left me alone to daydream and read comics in class knowing i had mastered each lesson months before he taught them. today im a bulge-bracket banker, obviously my math teacher got things right.

over 47 years of teaching, how many of your adult students today make >$80,000/year and how many live paycheck to paycheck?? most people would have skipped school had they known their fate end up barely making ends meet. pension needs to be reformed with the payout formula determined by % of students growing into successful adults.
