@irurwurst This is an often spread myth. Why would Japan give a damn about the USSR on the Chinese mainland which had already been mostly lost by the time the USSR showed up, as opposed to the US who had been fighting and beating them the entire war, had surrounded the Japanese mainland, were preparing for a land invasion, and wiped out two cities with Atomic Bombs (that Japan wasn't sure if there were more of)?
