@dffndjdjd Yes, how silly of me for not going into said two thousand years of theological debate and pulling out a bullet point list (about something which wasn't even the point of the comment) for a rando on YT lmao. Almost like the last part of my comment was about just that: which is that these debates have happened in depth in recorded essay-form far better thought out than here, with Thomas Aquinas being but one name of many. It's certainly not getting solved by two anonymous strangers yapping rn.
We literally only have the monk's account, and we know how much people will try to manipulate a debate or tint the aftermath to be in their favour in the modern day, let alone back then when the sole recorder of events is one of the debatees and the sole readers will agree with his view, on a cultural level let alone religious.
You don't need to tell me how you're personally not convinced by anything, since that had little to do with what I was saying anyway, though it's easy to dismiss well thought out counter arguments from centuries, millennia, or mere years ago as "hand waves" when one disagrees with their fundamental thinking, not much different from politics. Internet debate is where reasonable discussion (free of cheap "gotcha"s) goes to die, so you'll have to forgive me for not making or regurgitating a thesis on one of the biggest metaphysical topics in human history in a YT comment section of all places.💀
Some people have better things to do, which is why this is the last message I'm putting in here, given my primary point about education and prosperity not being a bane of religion has already been made. I've wasted too much time writing this comment as is, lol.
