-It's called hyperbole for the sake of a point, sweety. You don't understand the meaning of what a strawman actually is, cuz this ain't it chief. Like I said, it's where people ACT as if the world would be so much better than it is now without religion, when it wouldn't be. They have this Utopian vision, and it's downright false. THAT is the point. It's as if you took three words and decided to ignore the rest of the statement surrounding said three words just so you could say "mUh STraWmaN".
-It's purposefully vague, because wanting more can come in many forms. Specifically, greed comes in many forms, more than just wealth but also power, and that is at the core of human nature. And asking me why we should bother talking about human nature is a rather odd question, since there's plenty of nuance to it but it still all boils down to the fact that people want more and oftentimes don't care about how they get it. Greed is the foundation of the rest of the conversation regarding human nature.
-That's my point though. Religion has nothing to do with the lack of caution in use with science, so you can't blame religion for where we're at currently. My point about science and industry because of advancing very quickly resulting in huge population booms and toxic waste IS true. The people at the top don't care about the damage they cause, it has nothing to do with "teaching" people not to because plenty of people already know, as do the people at the top. They just don't want to change it because it comes back to human nature of wanting more and wanting it now regardless of the cost, without potentially losing what you already have because life is so short. You're wrong that it's just a lack of caution, it's a matter of a constant need to keep up with the ever growing human population due to higher life expectancy, resulting in needing faster production of resources to keep the population fed, clothed, etc, which means that the faster but more damaging way of doing it is more convenient and thus used more often since it rakes in short term benefits.
