It probably was, but it would probably be a bad idea to start crying when you're trying to dig graves.

+Constanza Bronzo Except there's no way of separating the turn of the millennium from religious connotations. It's still based off a calendar which has a millennium turning point based off of when Jesus Christ is supposed to have been born. When you say C.E. and B.C.E. it's a feeble attempt at separating religion from it, even though it's still all about a religious figure.

+Cd5ssmffan Yeah, exactly. We're still using the same calendar that's based off of when people thought he was born, so it's still "before Christ" and "anno domini" because it's the Gregorian calendar.

Greg Horton You hit that nail right on the head. (no pun intended)

+LogiKaiser Except C.E. and B.C.E. are just alternate names for B.C. and A.D. They're both based off of the same dates. So what's REALLY inaccurate is acting as if they don't mean the exact same thing. B.C. and A.D. are just more honest, because it's still based off of the time period when Jesus was born, an event that changed the world whether he really existed or not which means it is far from "culturally irrelevant".

+Olli No, there wasn't. You're thinking in the modern day after migrations and intermingling. Even now, however, Italians are generally dark haired.
