WAWTAR is the most refreshing thing on YouTube. Thank God for it!

@thegoldenthread awesome. I'm struggling to have peace about joining the orthodox church but it's pulling at me. I just don't want it to be a rational or emotional decision because I've been mistaken in past. I want spiritual discernment. I pray. I've been to liturgy several times.

God bless! Thanks for the video.

I want more videos on epistemology! It takes so long for it to soak in. It's hard when you were brought up in such a modern western culture.

I love Father Heers. I think he is misunderstood by a lot of folks. He has challenged me by his intense love for the faith handed down from Christ to His Apostles.

Most interesting podcast ever.

You're such a legend. I'm surprised this one hasn't gotten millions of views yet.

Full of himself. Hubris

how could we be owed anything by our Creator? I mean I can empathize with that sentiment, but if you read the book of Job it makes a good point.

You're orthodox now? Can you share your conversion experience?

@FirstThingsFoundation St. Philothea Greek Orthodox near Athens, Ga. It's a great community. They've really welcomed me and my family and shown us hospitality. Some of those examples of hospitality you shared cut me so deep... thank you and God bless! I'm going to visit your restaurant once all of my projects subside and I have a free weekend with my family.

@sebastianmichaelis1079 I don't know what to say. My wife is in oncology and sees cancer patients every day. Its devastating when you believe God can heal them. But I can't wrap my head around not believing in God and still believing there is meaning in life. What would be the meaning? To further evolution?
1
@sebastianmichaelis1079 and regarding the moment the first living thing was created so long ago, what was the mechanism for changing it from raw materials to living? Isn't that basically a miracle? I can't understand life apart from spirit or breath. It may be a poor argument but you cannot reanimate a corpse that has been dead (long). All the physical parts of the body are there but the breath no longer is. You can make a robot if you want but you can't make a soul. I'm not sure if what I'm saying is compelling from your perspective but that's the best I've got.
1
@DeusExHomeboy how can I learn more about what you mean when you speak of emergence? I'm confused about what that means.
1
@SolitaryReaper666 in your world would you have free will?

Have you guys studied Christian theology? Do you think it's incoherent? I am finding that it makes a lot of things make sense. I'm no scientist and there's a lot I have to learn about the world, but becoming a Christian has made my life make sense in ways it didn't before. It's also fuller. I see what you mean though. It's possible it is false and I'm trying to cope. How can you have meaning and purpose without a creator?

@xensonar9652 meaning in the world came through everything being made through Christ, the Logos. Through him everything was made that was made. God made order out of chaos and we are supposed to do the same because we are His Image-bearers. That's why we are unique among all animals and plants. Humans are remarkable because we are the only created thing made in God's image. This is my understanding. But I know that is not convincing if you don't believe there is a creator.
1
@xensonar9652 I mean, without a God I don't see how objective truth can be real. And if there's no objective truth then who is to say what meaning and purpose is. Can you explain the way you understand meaning and purpose in our lives without God? I'm not sure if I'm being clear.
1
@xensonar9652 I think I'm seeing what you mean. I can't understand where you think that truth would come from but you're not necessarily concerned with that. I think God is the originator of objective truth. But you're saying atheists aren't as concerned with explaining where truth comes from. Right? You can say there is objective truth but there is room in your mind for the explanation not being God.
1
@xensonar9652 I'll do my best: a square is not a circle. That's true objectively. It's not true for me, it's true for everyone. I would argue it's the same for morality. I think murder is objectively wrong. For everyone not just me. The standard that everything is measured against is Christ, who I believe made everything with wisdom and truth. Because those things come from God. The reason I have a hard time understanding how you could explain where objective truth comes from is because I understand it through the lens of God's revelation to man... I do recognize logic and science as being other manifestations of meaning that God built into the world. But I see them being coherent and working together. Mankind uses logic (I am trying, lol) to determine truth because it can spot when ideas don't add up. It can do with ideas what math does with numbers, maybe? Science can help explain how the world works. The Christian religion can tell you why we're here. I'm not a debater but I am wanting to understand other folks' perspective on these things. I've wrestled with them for years and I can always learn something from people I disagree with.

Wow. Good job Tucker. Have Jay Dyer on again, please. Important work you're doing. God bless.

@heavythingslightly I am in Athens, Ga. I am planning on visiting your restaurant with my agnostic materialist friend. I'm a Christian but oddly enough he is the only conversation partner I have that wants to discuss the topics you speak about. God bless you and your family and your ministry! I know you've helped me!
1
@heavythingslightly that would be a blast! Thank you.

What if being a murderer is what makes you happy? How can you justify being entitled to these "birthrights"?
