Some of the brightest kids I have taught were born in Africa and their goal was to be doctors, nurses lawyers etc. One girl from Nigeria would hand in her papers at 4am. I asked if she was up all night partying. She told me she had to babysit her young siblings in the evenings because her parents both worked 2 jobs, and she got up early in the morning to do her schoolwork.
