  1. No, Cortana isn't an alien AI, she was created by Catherine Halsey, the same woman who created the Spartans. They put the data they found in the Forerunner ruins in Reach, into Cortana, to analyse and transport, the data being the existence and location of the Halo in Combat Evolved.

  2. The NPC's don't look the same. Press the button to the left of the glowing 'X' on the joypad to instantly switch to the old style graphics, and you will see the difference. In fact it would be cool if you occasionally looked at the old graphics for a few seconds on your playthroughs, so we can see your opinions on the improvements.
