for some reason it seems like most media don't want to talk about any good news or progress. I guess doom and gloom sells better.
14
it's just the French being French. I'm sure the Germans will talk some sense into them eventually.

@linuxman7777 none of those countries pose a direct threat to Europe. Russia does.
8
that is by design. Europe used to buy a lot of refined oil from russia. So russia has to sell the crude oil to India with a discount, And Europe is buying the refined product from India at a good price. So it is a win-win for Europe and India, but not so much for russia.
6
@nyfinest487 we are still laughing at trump, he is a clown after all. And he was just repeating what Obama said in 2014 anyway.
6
@rajsinghji-84 India is already facing gas rationing.
6
i know, it's going to suck for all those poor russian conscripts who have to spend the winter in the trenches without proper winter gear.
5
@rajsinghji-84 i am talking about natural gas, used by industry. India imports 50% of their natural gas consumption as LNG, but most of that has gone to Europe. So now India has to ration natural gas for the industry.
5
that seems very unlikely. No one can deny that russian gas is a security threat now.
4
But there are way more than 2 suppliers in the world. And most of them can increase production, if there is a demand.
4
if we give in to nuclear blackmail once, it will be very hard to convince putin that we won't give in when he wants to annex some nato territory.
4
the goal is not to replace russian gas with gas from other suppliers, the goal is to phase out natural gas completely. And that will take a lot more time, but higher prices will keep everyone motivated.
4
they are cutting production because demand is going down.
3
everyone seems to forget the African suppliers, especially Algeria and Nigeria?
3
When did the EU ban any of that?
2
you know whats even cheaper? Solar and windpower. And if you need methane for the industry, it can be produced as biogas or through electrolysis.
2
the most important market for most countries in the European Union is the European Union. Ever heard of the single market? We don't have to compete with asia, we can raise tariffs to protect domestic industry. Not a great plan from this "mastermind"...
2
way to go Sweden 👍
2
hello mr russian troll 😄
2
yes it is a problem this year and probably next year too, because it takes time to build infrastructure and increase production. LNG is not 3x more expensive than russian gas, in 2020-2021 it was more like 25-30%. With long term contracts, that price can be reduced.
2
@danielhutchinson6604 norway didn't declare independence from denmark, they were taken over by sweden after denmark lost a war. Nice try Ivan :) The global price of LNG depends on supply and demand, just like oil. At the moment, LNG is actually cheaper than russian gas.
2
@danielhutchinson6604 ...road apples? Wtf are you talking about Ivan? Are you saying that LNG doesn't exist? Or that it can't be transported by ship? Or...?
2
SWIFT is co-owned by the US and EU. The headquarter is in Belgium.
2
@rajsinghji-84 my source is Reuters, who got their information from India's largest gas distributor GAIL. Feel free to fact check.
2
Down with Gasputin 👎
2
the thermostat in my house will be set to 19 degrees instead of the usual 22, hope i will survive 🙄
1
@jamesgornall5731 i love Europe, that's why i am against russian aggression. Russia is the biggest threat to peace and stability in Europe.
1
@jamesgornall5731 so you missed the part where russia started the largest war in Europe since ww2?
1
it was closed, I think it was because Poland refused to pay in rubles.
1
The russians can't really transport much of the gas to asia, so they have to flare it.
1
@shahzebk7899 we can't afford to let putin get away with nuclear blackmail. If it works in Ukraine, he will try the same with the Baltic countries. And China will use the same tactic with Taiwan, they have nukes too. Trying to appease putin to avoid a nuclear war will only make a nuclear war more likely.
1
don't give trump any credit for that, he was just repeating what Obama said in 2014.
1
the US has no allies anymore. The US is now a bigger threat to peace and stability in Europe than Russia and China.
1
putin has achieved nothing. The Ukrainians are taking their land back, inch by inch. And there was nothing preventing russia from selling oil and gas to asia before the war, the reason why they didn't is because the European market is more profitable.
1
Countries like the US, Canada and Norway have increased production, while global demand is going down.
1
don't worry, Norway is taking over as Germany's main supplier. They have supplied half of Germany's gas in 2023, and it will only grow as Norway has approved 19 new oil and gas fields.
