well if we had listened to the Americans, then we wouldn't be dependent on russian gas to begin with. We should never have been doing business with a country like russia.

@GopalKumar-nq2wi same could be said about European crisis. There's no actual shortage yet, the prices are high because there could be shortages later this year. Everyone is now trying to buy as much coal and gas as possible to prepare. It's "the toilet paper crisis" from 2020 all over.

@GopalKumar-nq2wi don't get me wrong, there will most likely be shortages later this year. But it doesn't have to be a crisis, russian gas was just 8% of EU's total energy consumption in 2021. And we could probably cut 15-20% of our energy consumption without really suffering.

@olafweyer859 so you're saying that we should look the other way while russia invades a country on our doorstep, so russia will continue to provide us with gas? Sounds to me like you just proved my point, that we should never have bought gas from russia to begin with.

@ndifrekeotu9086 I'm sure russia will continue to "defend itself" by invading their neighbours. Funny thing is, I didn't actually believe what all the critics were saying about putin and russia. I used to think Germany was doing the right thing with their "change through trade" policy. But putin decided to prove me wrong.
