@dilligafwoftam985 have you guys not been paying attention? Gas storage is full ahead of time, and there is a queue of 35 LNG tankers of the coast of Spain at the moment. They can't unload yet, because we don't have capacity for more LNG right now.
2
are we doing worse than the rest of the world at the moment?
2
@Silly2smart funny thing is, that claim was made in 2019 when the gas price was unusually low. 1,4 times very cheap is still cheap...
2
are we suffering more than the rest of the world?

@drivex6761 inflation and energy prices are high in most of the world now. How will Europe be worse off than the rest of the world?
1
@someone-human and that is why we still have supply, while poorer countries will have to go without. Developing countries will always suffer more than us.

@dilligafwoftam985 why would there be a queue of tankers if nobody wants to sell to us? Please make sense. You should also remember that we don't have to replace all the gas from russia with LNG. 35% of EU's natural gas consumption is used to generate electricity. That means that we can replace most of the gas from russia by generating electricity from other sources. That is why coal imports are up 35% this year. And every new solarpanel or windturbine will also reduce the need for gas.

@rvshrm7175 yes the price is still high. However, it has been falling for 8 weeks now. It peaked at 345 euro/MWh in august, and the price is around 115-120 euro now. It's about 35% higher than same time last year. I expect the price to keep falling, but we will see.

@rvshrm7175 russian gas is over. We don't want to pay for the guns that will be used to kill civilians in Ukraine.
1
good thing the price is going down then.

@untitled2235 wishful thinking much? 😄

@pinxtownington4645 the coming recession will be global, and it will hurt poorer countries harder as usual.
1
@pinxtownington4645 companies go bankrupt all the time, and new ones are started everyday. Is the current number of insolvent companies in Germany much higher than normal? If your answer is yes, please state your source so i can fact check.

40% more expensive is a russian claim, made by former energy minister Alexander Novak. It is probably over exaggerated.
1
if the russians had minded their own business, then they wouldn't have all these problems right now. Their economy is already in recession, even the russian government is admitting that their gdp will decrease this year.
1
@pinxtownington4645 both EU and US gdp is expected to grow in 2022 , just not very much. Russia is much worse off, no matter how much putin tries to hide it.
1
are we?
1
@johnpablo2772 how are we collapsing? Please explain?
