  2. I can argue you are wrong. It depends on the context. For reals, sure, the convention is "√x is the non negative number k such that k²=x" BUT, if we are dealing with complex numbers, it is indeed true that "√z = ±k, such that k²=z"

  6. This guy is so great, isn't he? I just think he should have said that ³√(2±√-121) = 2±i De fato, (2+i)² = 3+4i (2+i)³ = (6-4)+(8+3)i = 2+11i Analogously, (2-i)³ = 2-11i So, ³√(2+11i) + ³√(2-11i) = 2+i + 2-i = 4 which is the real root of x³ = 15x+4
