@theevermind "They're just an idea". Man, I have bad news for you ...
5
@alexmorrison2360 "for whatever reason oiler sounds wrong to me". By "whatever reason" you mean "linguistics ign0ranc3", I suppose. Hahahaha.
5
Is he still alive?
4
Why did you love that? It is actually a s1lly perspective about Math.
4
"Convergence of the number" doesn't make sense. Convergence is a term for sequences or series.
3
@serbestianmilo1477 no need to call him a "weirdo".
3
There is nothing curious about that. Yeah, of course, it will work for complex numbers too, because the reasoning in the video applies ...
2
@matheusphillipevelozoamara3262 in other words, you are the one who shouldn't take comments very seriously.
2
Hahaha. Yeah.
2
Oh! My! Euler! Taneja??? I met him! I studied in the university in which he works. Or worked. What a surprise!!!
2
Wow, Steve was such a cutie.
2
So characteristic 2 is your paradise.
2
Man, let's understand: this video is one more ocurrence of british people not recognizing hindu-arabic knowledge ...
2
@theevermind are you sure you are talking with the right person? I am the one saying that even numbers aren't real.
2
@jobicek where do you come from?
2
@theevermind hahaha.
2
@andrewince8824 thanks Math. And thanks rock climbing. Hahaha.
2
Really? It is a matter of convention. That's it. Explained with 6 words.
2
@douggale5962 you prefer to be taught child? Wtf do you mean?
2
@douggale5962 so you prefer to be taught child? Is that it?
2
With arguments.
1
Why he must be wrong?
1
@JM-lh8rl oh my Euler ... We should. We definitely should.
1
@erictaylor5462 you did make a joke, didn't you? Right?
1
Who cares ... ?
1
@szymonsabat5195 urgh. Go away. Never come back.
1
@byeguyssry you don't get it. You came so close to understand. But missed the point entirely.
1
Wtf is "Hello internet"???????
1
Hahahahahaha.
1
Why the normal toothpick design looks japanese? Am I being crazy here?
1
@tomfeng5645 your comment is the most intelligent one about Math I ever read in my life. Thank you very much.
1
Hahahahaha. Man, it is always amazing how people are ignorant about the great Math content made by ancient people, especially indians. Something as basic as the Sūtra Nikhilam Navarascaramam Dasatah is interpreted as someone's else realization or teaching. That's insane. Most people never heard about Vedic Mathematics. Then a british author clearly wrotes about it and takes the merit. Crazy world. Good thing some people still remember our digits are hindu-arabic symbols.
1
1:46 Because if you think about it ... That's the craziest explanation why it fails for n=41. Man, the result is 41² ... The last 41 cancels with -41 ...
1
YES! I just made a comment about that. They just took credit for the student's idea!
1
Haha. Nice. Very nice to see the thing in real life.
1
It seems not even mathematicians really understand probabilities. Ha.
1
Are you the guy in the pic?
1
By "long, detailed numberphile videos" you mean "this video". Right?
1
Wtf is Risk? I know such a game as War. Risk?
1
I simply love this professor.
1
I love Tom! Hehehe. Such a cutie.
1
@gregpotts9410 you didn't get his point.
1
You are overestimating people a LOT, but ok.

You are overestimating people a LOT, but ok.

Fool.

I guess f(x)=10x+1 is the function that truly would have the same visual effect. Namely, the terms would be 1, 11, 111, 1111, ... for each corresponding bases.
1
I don't understand why to complicate. Just use 231. 003 714 289 (0-7+2)×2+(0-1+8)×3+(3-4+9)×1 = -10+21+8 = 19 = 7×2+5 Done. This is the best method.
1
10:34 it is NOT satisfying at all! Because it could be simplified as (x+y)⁶ = x⁶+3x⁴y²+2x³y³+3x²y⁴+y⁶ or some other options ...
1
You know what's funny? The literal translation of "derangement" in brazilian Portuguese, "desarranjo", is usually used to mean "diarrhea". Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. So I guess this is the reason we use "chaotic permutation", "permutação caótica", as the name for derangements. Hahahahahaha.
