  1. Probably, Gloster Meteor was never a good airplane, be it just for the centrifugal compressor in its turbines. As a matter of fact, Gloster Meteor pilots were instructed to run away upon sighting any German Jet Aircraft.

  3. ​ @gort8203 Wrong! The swept back in Me-262 did result in improved performance; if you look at its wing with an unbiased sight, you'll see Schwalbe Wing Planform is roughly same as in modern jet airliners.

  4. ​ @michaelwright2986 Having some kind of Wing leading edge swept ruined the Airbus A-400 M STOL features, the C-130 Hercules with a straight wing leading edge is much better in this respect.
