Please watch the Briggs&Stratton Sleeve Valve engine Video by chargermiles007 here, and look for the July 1974 Car&Driver Interview with Mike Hewland about their Sleeve Valve Research Engine, single cylinder, 500 cc, 70 HP, 172 gr/ HP/ hr. Nothing ever compares in Reciprocating Engines to Bristol Aircraft engines. Continental said it are easier and cheaper to produce than Poppet Valve engines, but 1929 crisis came in. For technical data, look for later editions of 'The High Speed Internal Combustion Engine', by Harry Ricardo. Blessings +

Besides Watson, there were the Itala, Reynolds, Wankel, Piccard-Pictet, Lotus, Coates, RCV Rotary valves, and more. Look in web for Douglas Self Museum of Technology.
