And serious, the only reason he's always grumpy is because he lives in a world filled with lunatics, just like Robin has to deal with from the other titans. The same goes for Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life.

@majorfanboy2005 Well, I think the reason he enjoys seeing Spongebob sad is because for so many years he drove Squidward crazy and play many jokes on him, Squidward wanted to get pay back on him and make him understand what it feels like to be hurt. And he destroyed the statues because he wanted to let out some steam and was sick of looking at them.

Yes, the only reasons he's grumpy, angry, and hateful is because no one understands him and he has to put up with living and dealing with people besides Spongebob who are brainless and wild. Just like how Robin from Teen Titans Go has to put up with the stupidity and irresponsibility of the other titans. If people just learn to be more serious, things could be better for Squidward.
