The inmates and their guards were not very friendly to the native people of the south-eastern part of Australia. The climate and the countryside was quite hostile. I am not sure, if fences were used.

The present war between USA-NATO and Russia is a direct result of many decades of USA efforts. The cold war was not preventable, unless all out war would break out. This is what we are presently witnessing, slow motion start, but we will get there.
