The "Cuban missile crisis" was a response to the USA that had positioned nuclear weapons in Italy and Turkey. It should actually be called the "Italy-Turkey-Cuba missile crisis" to reflect the aggression of the USA against Russia.

@richardofoz2167 USA actually with drew his nuclear missiles from Turkey, at least that was what was agreed. That was also the reason that Kennedy wanted to keep the agreement secret for the American public, because he feared for his re-election. In all likelihood, it was the CIA that took care of that.

@matthewkopp2391 The USA has during WWII developed the idea and strategies to create a war with the Soviet Union (1922-1991). The present war between USA-NATO and Russia is a direct result of many decades of USA efforts. The cold war was not preventable, unless all out war would break out. This is what we are presently witnessing, slow motion start, but we will get there.
