@markotrieste It seems to me that Kissinger flat out says, around the 6:00 minute timepoint, that it is better to extend NATO now that Russia is weak and not wait till it becomes strong again. He then, apologetically?, mention that we shouldn't treat Russians as enemies, but nevertheless I have a strong feeling that Kissinger considers it best to advance now (in 1994, first phase of expansion).

Kissinger, in fact says, Russia retreated from eastern Europe in a peaceful manner, and that created a no-mans land. Kissinger doesn't say that NATO expansion means USA expansion into Europe. The present political failure of Europe started a long time ago.

@ERH-ph5gb Most people do not know how to interpret things! Kissinger's semantics are too misleading. You have to spell things out to have an honost conversation with everybody in the room. The 800+ world wide military bases creates leverage on internal politics (see Europe) as well as creates leverage in external politics (see the rest of the globe). It absolutely brings no peace, it suffocates selfdetermination and sovereignty and creates anger and frustration towards the USA.

@tereterevanakere2132 No country in the USA hemisphere can voluntarily join another power. Logically, you use an American argument which denies equality or parity or equality. USA is the selfserving terrorist state.

@starikip Just because the USA middle-east policies caused war and destruction and the Russians said they shouldn't do that, doesn't mean that Russia didn't want friendly relationships with the west. The USA should just stop killing other peoples and stop treating the globe as only the American interest.

It is in the entire west that the quality of discussion has deteriorated. It is even worse actually, a true discussion that brings forth historic facts will make you a social outcast and you will be demonized. Only one way, to follow the western, ruling narrative. We have gone back to medieval times!
