Janet Baker Businesses can't just pay whatever the fuck they want. They are subject to market forces. Here in Austin Texas minimum wage is $7.25, yet even Taco Bell pays $11 an hour. We have no price ceilings, so why do we need wage floors?

You live in a country where the GDP per capita is $1,498 a year and yet you buy the idea that anything less than $15 an hour isn't a "living wage"?!

@whiteknightcat Slavery has nothing to fucking do with whether you are paid. Many slaves were paid, that's how they "bought their freedom." Many unpaid laborers are not slaves, they are called "interns" and "volunteers."
