  1. Learning about CRISPR has been one of the most uplifting things ever. I used to have a lot of dark, depressing thoughts about dysgenic pressure, and how maybe the Nazis were right in that we needed some heavy hand to replace evolution now that we no longer had natural selection to clean up our gene pool, how religion was standing in the way of preventing our de-evolution as a species, how there might be some great war over designer babies and genetic engineering, etc. But seeing this technology in action gives me hope for the future.
