Can someone explain this to me? I thought America was a horrible place where everyone was living paycheck to paycheck, so why are millions of people risking their life to come here?

@superhyrulean So rather than them learning English, we have to all learn 50 different languages? My dad studied Spanish for months just to run a marathon in Mexico.

@superhyrulean Because America is not so bad? Impossible! The world can't possibly get worse than my 700 square foot air conditioned one bedroom apartment with internet access, indoor plumbing, refrigeration, pool, and gym!

@thebastardgift Or maybe most people don't need a house and a car to improve their lot in life? If you live in a corrugated tinshack eating vegetables off a blanket off your dirt floor, an air conditioned studio apartment is still quite an improvement.

That WAS America, and back when that was America, we could let in infinite immigrants because you couldn't live here and be a drain on society at the same time.
