  1. No, if you read the last chapter it’s more of a realization both sexes are victims. What ate her up was the deception. She had to deceive people she got very close with, which was not only guilt inducing but very exhausting.

  2. She entered a bout of depression after writing the book but that’s likely not what killed her. She didn’t commit suicide until more than 16 years after the book was published.
