I thought it was common knowledge third world countries had lower prices. Yes, groceries cost less in Russia, but the average Russian has FAR LESS MONEY. In terms of Purchasing Power Parity, they are actually worse off that us. They pay 75% less for groceries but make 85% less in their paychecks.

Russia's GDP per capita is about 1/6th of what America's is. Tucker has the luxury of using an America wage to shop at Russian prices.

You can often find very cheap food in third world countries. This is nothing new. Check the median household income, measured in Purchasing Power Parity, in Russia then tell me how great life in Russia is.
6
Russia's GDP per capita is only $13,000 compared to America's $80,000. So when you factor in Purchasing Power Parity the Russians pay much more for their groceries.
6
Cheap food in the third world is nothing new. This comment section is seriously depressing me.

Tucker has the luxury of not living on a Russian wage. Russia's GDP per capita is about 1/6th of what ours is. So at the end of the day food costs a bigger chunk of their paycheck.

@Chaorchy This comment section is absolutely insane. I've seen countless videos on exotic tourism and never seen this kind of ignorance in my life. If it were really this simple as cheaper prices = better living, Americans would be flooding over to Cambodia and Laos.
3
Yet you make about 6X as much as the average Russian. For fuck's sake, people, we have something called "Purchasing Power Parity" for a reason.
3
These comments are so depressing. I thought it was common knowledge everything was cheaper in the third world? Anyone who knows anything about exotic tourism knows $40 can go incredibly far in a country like Vietnam or Thailand, that doesn’t mean they have higher standards of living because it’s more than offset by their lower GDP per capitas.
3
Russia’s GDP per capita is about 1/6th of what it is here. When you factor in Purchasing power Parity you’re much better off in America. I can’t believe these comments. I thought it was common knowledge food is much cheaper in the third world.
2
@russellgrimes3491 It's not sick, it brings a lot of money into those countries.
2
Russia’s food is four times cheaper but their GDP per capita is about six times less. Reading these comments is so depressing. Cheap food in third world countries is nothing new. Anyone who knows anything about exotic tourism knows this.

@KG-xt4oq For fuck's sake, the reason their prices are cheaper is that their salaries are lower. The price of everything comes back to the cost of production. A typical Fortune 500 business runs a profit margin of about 5%, so what you pay for a product is almost exactly what it costs to produce.
1
Tucker is not shopping with a Russia wage in his pocket. Russia's GDP per capita is about 1/6th what ours is. So you pay 25% of what we do for food, but you have only about 15% of the money.
1
@likestojam He's right. Walmart's profit margin is only about 1.1%. Our groceries are more expensive because our salaries are higher.
1
I can’t believe cheap food in a third world country is news to people. Anyone who knows anything about international tourism knows this is the norm. There’s a reason we have an income measurement called ‘Purchasing Power Parity’ to compare income between nations.
1
@Beakerz857 Exactly. Anti-Americanism is really becoming a threat to the Republican Party. Never thought I'd see the day.
1
@destruction1928 Mega-corporations like Walmart make a profit margin of 1.1%. So yes, the cost of labor (higher wages) is almost perfectly tied to the price of the product.
1
He gets to shop at Russian prices with an American salary. Russia's GDP per capita is about 1/6th of America's.
1
He's brining anti-Americanism over to the GOP. This is insane tyrant-simping. Yes, food is cheaper in Russia. Guess what, if you go to Thailand or Laos you can buy a five meals for what one would cost you in the US. I thought everyone knew this. But do these nations have higher standards of living? Hell no because their GDP per capitas are way, WAAAY lower. Russian food is 75% less, but their paychecks are 85% less.
1
@powertothesheeple5422 That just shows that Moscow is the best place in Russia, so what does that say about the rest?
1
I think I'm going to be sick! A loaf of bread costs what our most poorly paid laborer makes in under 20 minutes! Go to tell the 700 million people in the world making $2 or less a day how you manage to starve in America. By the way, when you factor in Russia's GDP per capita, they have a much worse deal. Their food is about 4X cheaper but their paychecks are about 6X less.
1
@Nofilter1976 The GDP per capita in Russia is $13,000 a year. That's less than 1/5th of what it is in the US. Stop these mindgames.
1
Go to Thailand or Vietnam or Laos and your dollar be able to buy far more food than it can in America. That doesn’t mean those countries have a higher standard of living. I’m becoming genuinely embarrassed to call my self a conservative these days.
1
@Figgs101 If we only make enough to money to go back to work the next day, what does that say about the 99% of the world where people make less than us? Are they zombies who don't make enough money to go back to work the next day?
1
These comments make me want to blow my brains out. I thought it was common knowledge dollars went a lot further in poorer countries. Go to Vietnam or Thialand or Laos and you can easily get four Cokes for what one would cost here. That doesn't mean their standard of living is higher. Russia's GDP per capita is about 1/6th what ours is. So you pay 75% less for food but make 85% less income.
