Look up the minimum wage of the five states with the highest homelessness rates, then look up the minimum wage of the five states with the lowest homelessness rates.

@albertmooney2628 If starting a small business that pays all its employees $15 an hour or more is so easy, you do it. Christ alive, $30,000 a year is more than the GDP per capita of 80% of the world. You can't just pull that kind of dough out of thin air. Walmart's profit margin is only 1.1%, and if they have their heart set on making that 1.1% rather than raising wages or slashing prices to get an edge on the competition, why will that change when a $15 minimum wage is instituted.

@albertmooney2628 No, minimum wage exists almost everywhere in the world. India, one of the primary places we outsource to, has a higher minimum wage than the US if you measure it as a proportion of their GDP per capita. If Walmart has its heart set on making a certain profit margin, rather than giving up some of its profits to get an edge on the competition by raising its employee salaries or cutting its prices, there's no reason to believe that will change if minimum wage is raised. They will just raise their prices to compensate.

Look at the top ten states for minimum wage, top ten states for homelessness, and top ten states for unemployment. The three lists look very similar.
