  1. It doesn't really sound like he's teaching her values, just rubbing in her face the idea she can't be any better than this. He didn't speak to her about a better path. Yeah, if her brain was in a man's body, she'd be in poverty. So what? You could say the same about any job that requires brute physical strength and nothing else (if you were born in a woman's body you'd be in poverty).
