@bonedtothestone7408 I agree, every crime deserves a proportionate response, even rape. And putting rape on the same level as murder by punishing it the same way cheapens human life. By punishing rapists with death, we're sending the message either A) we're not a just society that punishes a crime relative to its harm or B) rape victims would be just as well off dead. What message are we sending to rape victims by telling them they just endured something equivalent to being murdered, by punishing it the same way? Certainly not a positive or honest one. Certainly not one that will encourage them to move on with their lives rather than killing themselves.
