  1. Here's what I don't get, though: even if you are playing someone in blackface (like Sarah Silverman did), it's still taboo. This isn't true blackface because you're not actually pretending to be a black person. So why is it so taboo? Because it reminds people of this ugly history? Then why can we depict people getting lynched, enslaved, whipped, called the n-word, etc?
