Okay a few thoughts on this, without evening watching the video because I don't have the temper:
1) The fact we concern ourselves with "age gaps" at all in a relationship as a matter of ability to consent is insane. There is no where else in the law we EVEN CONSIDER this type of thinking. If you team up with someone to rob a bank at 16, does your accountability for the crime change based on the age of your partner? Don't give me that "power imbalance" nonsense. Parents can't even control their 15 year old daughter more than her peers can, so why should a 30 year old be able to mind-control a 17 year old?
2) With the way society is going, you'll be able to run for President at 18 but not stay home without a baby sitter at 17. What the hell do people think happens on your 18th birthday that turns you from a toddler to Confucius overnight? If you can go to war, vote for the most powerful man in the world, and take out a $200,000 loan at 18, shouldn't you be able to chose who to sleep with a bit earlier?
3) Do people HONESTLY think 18 is a natural, non-arbitrary cut off for adulthood? No society in the entire world had a cut off for adulthood for all of human history that high until the industrial age. And why would it? Almost everyone is fertile, has a sex drive, has secondary sex characteristic, and has reached their adult height before 18. So why do we treat this age with such sick, superstitious, religious reverse?
