Conservative has never been a literal description of someone's politics. That would be like saying conservatives should be against school vouchers because they'd want to conserve the public school system.

@mrnelsonius5631 I'm doing just fine with my $33,000 a year here in Texas. The writing on the wall is "don't turn this state blue".

Yes, it totally makes sense that people selling real-estate are so much greedier in California than everywhere else. It can't be California's high property taxes that are at work.

Grocery stores run razor thin profit margins. Even if Walmart decided to double its profits that would only raise prices a few cents on a dollar. Growing prices can't be blamed on corporate greed. (I'm guessing someone is going to reply with a laughing emoji without any explanation on how I'm wrong)

You could take every cent from every billionaire and it would only keep the US economy running for 8 months.
2
Yes, because that's working so well for New York and California.
2
Funny how you decide to frame it that way, not "the poor get poorer". A Freudian Slip.

So why are corporations so much greedier in places where all the liberals live? I'm doing fine with my $33,000 a year in Texas.

"MOAR FREE MONEYZ LOLOLOLOLOLOL!" - Democrats on economics

If everyone realized how silly it was to believe anyone in America could starve (which you just demonstrated with your claim), the Democrat Party would be out of business.

1) Look how great those high wages are working out for California and New York. Meanwhile in Texas, where minimum wage is $7.25, I pay only 1235 a month for my one bedroom apartment and can get a meal at McDonalds for under $10. 2) Walmart's profit margin is something like 3% right now. Even if they decided to become a charity and abolish their profits, they couldn't lower their prices by any significant amount without going into the red ink. 3) Social Security is not something given to "the poorest of the poor", it's given to old people who just don't feel like working any more even if they are millionaires.

Yes, people are just greedier in San Francisco. That makes sense. It can't be the sky high property taxes California imposes to pay for its entitled citizens.

If this is the result of capitalism run wild, why is it at the worst in the Blue States? I'm in Texas and my mind is blown what Californians and New Yorkers pay for things. I'm living very comfortably on $21 an hour and can get a double cheeseburger meal at McDonalds for under $10.

Grocery stores run razor thin profit margins. If Walmart's profit margin goes from 2% to 3%, why would that double prices?

I live in Texas. We let corporations do their thing. Our minimum wage is the lowest it can legally be. And guess what? I live comfortably on $33,000 a year. My one bedroom apartment is $1235 a month, it's on the ground floor, and I got the first month and a half free! I bought a steak a couple days ago (a very thin steak that only took a couple minutes to grill, but still) for less than $4.00. I can still get a double cheeseburger meal at McDonalds for under $10. I pay $2.00 less per gallon of gas than the Californians. And I live within 30 minutes of a big city AND a ritzy suburb. Until people learn to love themselves more than they hate "the 1%", their suffering will continue.

That's funny that corporations are so much greedier in Blue States. But I know you love to hate so that's your preferred explanation.
1
Good. Minimum wage is the lowest it can legally get in Texas and as such I'm able to live in comfortably on $33,000 a year here.

@osurpless Isn't that what most complaints about the modern economy are based on? Most people are raging about their personal experiences.
1
Actually the poverty rate is 11.5% but don't let me spoil your orgy of hate. And "comfort line"? Give me a break.
1
Yea, everyone magically became greedier for no reason, especially in New York and California.
1
Why are tech giants responsible for growing grocery prices?
1
1:38 That's a historic low. Guess what the poverty rate was in 1959? 22%

Seeing how much better life is in Texas than California and New York right now, I'd say both those philosophies have been thoroughly validated.
1
Shhhhh! Freedom of choice is capitalism. These people won't accept any solution that doesn't involve violence.

Supporting a family meant something very different back then. Kids rarely had their own rooms and lack of medical advances meant that instead of getting insane medical bills when your baby was born prematurely, it just died. Also female participation in the workforce was still prevalent and the average worker worked about 20% more hours.
