It was was just about oil we wouldn't have gone to war, just lifted the sanctions on Saddam.

If the US only wanted oil, why would have imposed sanctions on Saddam to begin with?

If the US just wanted Iraqi Oil, why didn't we simply lift the sanctions and buy it?

If the US wasn't afraid to kill civilians, we would have never lost a single soldier in battle, just leveled Iraq from the sky.

I'm sure saying that makes you feel like a read bad ass who's sticking it to the man, but an April 2004 Gallup Poll showed Iraqis thought the invasion was worth it by a margin of more than 2 to 1. It wasn't until mid-2006 that they started to change their minds, when they started mass murdering each other in sectarian violence and then blamed America.

An April 2004 Gallup poll showed Iraqis felt the invasion was "worth it" by a margin of more than 2 to 1. It wasn't until mid-2006 when they started to change their minds. The US gave Iraqis what they wanted, they were glad for a few years, then they started mass murdering each other, blamed Americans, and pretended they never wanted to be liberated. It's that simple.

The Iraq War is simple. America gave the Iraqis what they wanted (April 2004 Gallup Poll Iraqis said war was "worth it" by a margin of more than 2 to 1). Things went okay. Then around 2006 sectarian violence got really fierce. They mass murdered each other and blamed Americans and pretended they never wanted to be liberated. And the terrorists laughed their asses off, as the oceans of blood they had spilled was now seen as being on the hands of their Western enemies.

Iraq Body Count estimated upwards 85% of civilians in Iraq killed were not killed by coalition forces. As someone who followed i casaulties dot org back when they tracked Iraqi fatalities, I suspect it was more like 90%. Insurgent factions in Iraq committed countless senseless acts of violence: bombing bridges, power-stations, flower nurseries, firing mortars into random sidewalks. Usually it was out of sectarian spite, but sometimes it was in mixed areas with no clear malice against any particular group of Iraqis (Shiite, Sunnis, or Kurds). The July Soccer bombings were a prime example. Why? We all know why. Because they knew people would blame their Western enemies. Every atrocities they committed became a propaganda victory. No one has more blood on their hands than the people who blame America for the crimes of its mortal enemies. If the terrorists knew they and only they would be blamed for their own crimes, Iraq would have turned out very very differently.
