Except you don't have any idea what they are talking about, you just gobble it up because it sounds nuanced and intellectual. ISIS has nothing to do with the persecution of Sunnis. Most of their victims have been Sunnis. ISIS is the successor to a group called The Islamic State of Iraq which was so brutal to its own people in the Sunni Triangle that it caused the insurgency to split in two and half of them to join the US. Second, what was this "persecution of Sunni Muslims" under the Iraqi government? The US backed government fought both Sunni and Shi'ite extremists. One of the primary nemises of them at the time was Muqtada Al-Sadr, commander of the Shi'ite Mahdi Army.

You just gobble this up because it sounds "naunced" and "intellectual", the classic "Well we can't just be assume bad guys are bad guys or that would make us jingoistic troglodytes, so let's invent excuses for them out of thin air." You have no idea what you mean by "the persecution of Sunnis under the US backed government", because they don't either. The Iraqi government fought both Sunni and Shi'ite militants. Muqtada Al-Sadr was Shi'ite warlord and his Mahdi Army killed at least as many Iraqi/American soldiers as the Sunnis. ISIS is the successor to "The Islamic State of Iraq." This was a group so brutal to their own people in the Sunni Triangle they caused the insurgency to split in two during an event called The Anbar Awakening, with half them joins the US/Iraqi government forces.

"We can't assume the bad guys are bad guys, because that would make us jingoistic troglodytes, so let's invent excuses for them" Even you don't know what they mean by this "persecution of Sunnis". Half the insurgency in Iraq was Shia. Muqtada Al-Saldr, a Shi'ite, was the most famous face in the Iraqi insurgency.

ISIS isn't about Sunni vs. Shia. Most of their victims have likely been Sunnis. ISIS is the successor towards a group called The Islamic State of Iraq. This was a group so bad that it caused the Iraqi insurgents in The Sunni Triangle to split in two, with half of them joining the Americans to fight against their former allies. That's basically how the Iraq War ended.

@godsdj7316 They're making up this bullshit about Sunni persecution for the rise of ISIS. Does anyone cheering this video's "truth" even have the slightest idea what they mean by that? Of course not. But they gobble it up because they can't simply believe bad guys are bad guys, because only sheeple believe those things.

Oh we got a badass playing stick it to the man here!

There are no "educated implications" here. This is just more of that "let's assume the bad guys have a good reason because otherwise that wouldn't be nuanced and intellectual of us" nonsense. ISIS has nothing to persecution of Shia. ISIS is the successor to a group in Iraq known as The Islamic State in Iraq. This group was so brutal to its own people it actually caused the Iraqi insurgency in the Sunni Triangle to split in two and half of them to join the US, this was called The Anbar Awakening. Also, what was this persecution of Shia by the elected Iraqi government? The US backed government fought both Sunni and Shia militias. Muqtada Al-Sadr was one of their primary adversaries during the war. He was a Shia warlord.

What was this "brutal subjugation of Sunnis"? The "US backed Shia government" fought militants from both sides. Muqtada Al-Sadr was a Shiite warlord and perhaps the greatest enemy of the US army in Iraq and the Iraqi government.

@OmarKhaled-em2mf The overwhelming majority of that destruction came from the people Americans and the Iraqi government were trying to kill and capture, and they were motivated largely by the perverse incentive people like you created by blaming their atrocities on America. How else do you explain such bizarre events as the July Soccer Bombing, which seemed to target no one in particular and was just to "get attention"? They know every ounce of pain they caused the Iraqi people, the Iraqi people and the rest of the world would take it out on America. So every atrocity became their propaganda victory.
