  1. What's truly awful is cutting off someone's eye lids was a torture the Plains Indians used to use. Groups like the Comanches were incredible torture artists. I think a lot about the grim past of this area when I'm driving through the dry grasslands of Texas.

  2.  @damoneldritch7588  I'm guessing they weren't born blind, because if they were that's not a very useful statement since they wouldn't even know what black looks like.

  3. Sadly, there are people who've experienced this. It was a method of torture the Comanches used on captives (cutting off someone's eye lids and then burying them under the Texas sun).

  5.  @stickinug  The Comanches themselves were colonizers. Other tribes feared them deeply.

  6.  @stickinug  Also Vlad the Impaler was only fighting invaders when he left Ottomans to die a slow and agonizing deaths on stakes. I'd love to hear what you think about that.
