  1. All this talk about people "earning" Social Security is just gobbledygook. If you earned enough to pay for your Social Security, why wouldn't the government just let you keep that money instead of taxing it from you? The whole point of government programs is to ensure the people who get money aren't necessarily the people who earned it, else you are just giving the government $5 to get $5 back, which makes no sense.

  2. So what? That's the point of all government programs. Do you think the amount people fund the welfare system with their tax dollars is remotely proportional to how much they'll take out of the welfare system during their life time? Why would you pay the government $5 just to get $5 back.

  3. We're paying more because we're demanding more. We're demanding more because there's more to demand. That's why we're living longer. Back when health care was "affordable" it was little more than penicillin and plaster casts. Since the beginning of the industrial age, life expectancy has increased about 10 years every half century.

  4. People crying they'll never see the money they're paying into Social Security need to realize that's how the system was originally designed. When SS started, the retirement age was one year above the life expectancy.

What on God's Green Earth do you think the point of these government programs is? There's no point in giving the government $5 so you can get $5 back. Do you think the people who go on welfare are the same people who paid into the welfare system? Hell no!

  6. Honestly, so what? That's how government entitlements are supposed to work. The people who pay hundreds of thousands of dollars into the welfare system are the least likely to use welfare. There's no point in giving to the government a dollar just to get a dollar back.
