@johnsrome8459 For Chrissake, if people thought the Native Americans and settlers normally got along there would be nothing "historic" or "beautiful" about the image of pilgrims and Indians feasting together. I can hardly even bring myself to believe you believe what you are saying when you say "it disguises [...] systematic slaughter and forced displacement of Native American tribes." That's like saying the WWI Christmas Truce disguises the horrors of WWI. How cynical and mean-spirited can you get?

Yes, from an early age we brainwashed to think white people are born with a unique genetic predisposition to evil and no other race ever stole anyone's land or enslaved or conquered anyone else. Some of escape that programming. Some of us don't.

You're right, we're told we exterminated an entire race of meek little pacifistic timber angels in cold blood, when in reality disease did 90% of the work before America was even founded. And you have the audacity to complain history is too "white washed."

Nothing in the world has been sobbed over more than "Native American Genocide". I can literally think of more references to the tragedy of the American Indian in the media than the Holocaust. 364 days of mourning is not enough for you?

@kingbgo7530 The real truth is documented in letters from Edward Winslow and William Bradford. People will filthy, diseased hearts have tried to trick us into believe Thanksgiving celebrates a masssacre by using a feast that happened 16 years later, but even in that case the pilgrims were fighting on behalf of the Wampanog against Pequot invaders.

What we call "The First Thanksgiving" (somewhat erroneously) was a real even and took place 1621. It's documented in first hand sources: letters from Edward Winslow and William Bradford. The fact that someone can be triggered by depictions of a moment of unity between two cultures which were usually enemies demonstrates a kind of black hearted hatred that is unprecedented in human history. It would be as low as using the Sainsbury WWI Christmas truce ad to soap box about how horrible Germans were. Gee, I can't imagine why white people don't want to become a minority...

@izaakmurillo3164 Lol, because Indian Reservations never have a problem with corruption.

sigh I don't know what you "learned" but its all wrong. Thanksgiving was a European tradition brought over to the New World, and "The First Thanksgiving" was a real event documented by Edward Winslow and William Bradford (it's a bit of a misnomer but still).

As opposed to the wonderful message of liberals that say Native Americans have a special claim to this country based solely on their skin color, and then have the audacity to call us racist? I'm white but I don't think that gives me more right to Europe than a black man born and raised in England.

Wow, racist hate mongering much? This is like seeing a kid dress up as Mulan and saying "Why do we teach our kids to dress up as people who disfigured their own daughters feet and murdered the entire Dzunghar ethnicity to steal their land" or going to Oktoberfest and saying "Why do we dress our kids up as people who killed millions of innocent Slavs and tried to exterminate the Jews."

The truth is documented by Edward Winslow and William Bradford. Liberal hatemongers are hurt by the truth because its humanizes white people the same way the WWI Christmas Truce humanizes Germans.

The same people complaining about zwarte piet are the ones making these anti-Thanksgiving videos.

@engiethefriendlyengineer America never committed genocide. Disease killed 90% of the Native people before America was even a country. We expanded and conquered, like the Anglos did to the Celts. We never tried to exterminate an entire race. If we had, we would have had a very easy time of it.

Thanksgiving has as much to do with that as Oktoberfest has to do with the Holocaust. Plymouth wasn't even the first European settlement in North America, that was Jamestown.

@lovely-mk4rt Everyone and their dog in every corner of the world has heard about "Native American Genocide", the only truth that's covered up is that the vast majority of Natives were killed by diseased before the US was even a country.

It's documented in first hand sources by Edward Winslow and William Bradford.

Garry G Everyone else's barbarity means nothing to them, so why should they care about "the barbarity of white folk"?
