🤮 There's no such f***ing thing as a living wage. First off, cost of living doesn't just fall out of the sky. Everything comes down to price of labor. Have you never noticed the places that offer the cheapest goods and services (McDonalds, 7/11, Walmart) also pay the lowest wages, and that the places with the highest wages (Manhattan, Beverly Hills, Silicon Valley) have the highest cost of living?
Second, what is "living" exactly? In 1950 the life expectancy was 65, the average family spent 30% of their income on food, and the median house size was less than half what is today. Yet we say those were "the good old days" when everyone could make ends meet. If $15 became the new minimum wage, there's no way you'd call it a "living wage."
