I'm sure saying that makes you feel like a real badass who's sticking to the man, but it was the "freedom fighters" in Iraq who killed the vast majority of innocent people, and the US was trying to stop them. That's why Iraq only found peace in late 2007 when half the insurgents switched sides and started fighting alongside the US in what was called the Anbar Awakening, while the remainder stayed behind to form ISIS.
