Honestly I feel terrible for her if she understood English. That would make it 1000X worse.

@sabitkarayev4448 Dude, don't judge her. She was put on the spot in an awkward situation and she didn't make a scene. I would have done the same.

I don't think many countries would jail you for parodying a different nation's national anthem.

@TheDplo Over 33 years of life I've learned not to under-estimate human stupidity. Although I know Sacha chose Kazakhstan because it was a backwater country that few people in the West knew anything about, thus making it a blank slate that was easy to work with, I think a lot of people might take it as a work of serious satire, and think Kazakhstan is "like that" just not to the degree depicted in the movie. I don't want to sound like an SJW but I think the movie should have been aired with a disclaimer like "This is a work of fiction and in no one intended to represent the real culture blah blah blah".

He's not making fun of Kazakhstan, he chose Kazakhstan because it's a place that most Westerners know nothing about and is almost never on news. That made it a blank slate that was very easy to work with.
