@tigerlee9613 for God’s sake, ‘cost of living’ doesn’t fall out of the sky! Ever notice how everything is cheaper in those countries where corporations outsource for cheap labor? It’s because the price of labor affects the price of everything, even rent.

That’s what retirement used to look like for most people. When Social Security started the life expectancy was 64

Living on way less right now at about 33,000 a year and I’m very content. I’d give anything to ship every American off to a third world country for a month and them learn the real meaning of terms like ‘cost of living.’

Why are millions of people risking their lives to get here, but no Americans are hopping the border to Mexico?

I hope to dear God the people who say that have families or are so old that they pay 2,000 a month for their health insurance. I’m 34, single, make $33,000 and am very content.

No, we just keep redefining ‘survival’. Many of the things we call necessities and human rights today did not even exist 50 years ago. Guess what the life expectancy was in 1950? And in 1900?

Exactly. I make $33,000 a year and I’m comfortable, and I live right between a ritzy suburb and a big city. I used to hate these people with all my heart, but that became too exhausting.

The poverty rate of a 11.5%

Making 33,000 a year. Very content. I hope all those people who can’t be comfortable on less than six-figures either have kids or are so old their insurance costs them 2000 a month. If not, well, I should hate you beyond words but I don’t have the energy.

I do it right now and I’m very content, thank you very much. I wish we could ship people like you off to a third world country for a month so you could learn the real meaning of terms like ‘cost of living’. Although maybe you live in New York and California and think it’s normal to pay $7 for a box of cereal and $2000 for a one bedroom apartment.

It’s 1235 where I live, and I got the first month and a half free.
1
Right, that totally makes sense, considering this all at its worst in the Blue States.
1
Sure. Where are all the Americans hopping the border to Mexico? I see millions of Mexicans coming here.

@sew_gal7340 Japan? Wow, go tell that to them. When you watch videos about their country’s economy you see the same doom and gloom in the comments.
1
@sew_gal7340 you’re against materialism yet sympathizing with people crying about making under $100,000 a year?

@underground868 for every four square feet of living space the average Western European has, the average American under the poverty line has five. Yea, you can look that up.
