The whole age gap taboo never existed in any society any where prior to feminism. Age of consent did (usually around 12 - 14), but no one cared about age gaps. It's perhaps the only sexual taboo that is completely modern.

  12. This actually comes down to evo-psych. Genetic studies show we are descended from twice as many women as men. That means, roughly, that every single female passed down her genes, but only half the males did. The males who passed down their genes are the ones who impressed teh wimmenz. So what are the biological imperatives that come from that? For women: Don't worry about impressing anyone. Just stay safe and comfortable and wait for your mate to find you. Then stay extra safe and comfortable while you have a baby in your belly so you don't miscarry or something. For men: Impress the women or die trying, because if you don't outdo at least half the guys you'll never make babies.

  16.  @keodiozubu8670  I don't see what your point is. What is because of that? Also it cut both ways. King Henry VIII was married off at 14 to a 27 year old woman. Ghengis Khan was 12 (actually 9, consummated at 12) when he was married off to a 17 year old.
