Honestly, do you really think older politicians do a worse job than the younger ones?

Honestly, I think this is more a statement on why retirement is stupid than why politicians shouldn't be old. The mind and body run very much on "use it or lose it" principle in old age, and old people who keep their mind active don't decay nearly as quickly. We love to talk about how much we hate our politicians, but does 1 person in a million really think the younger ones are any better?

People's minds and bodies decay because of retirement much more than the other way around. The elderly mind and body operate very much on a "use it or lose it" principle. Society's "retirement" entitlement is the real bane of society, not old age. Not only is it the reason for our crushing debt, but studies show again and again and again that work is a key component to happiness. My dad tried early retirement and found he just wasn't happy, so he started working part time.

I know this was, if anything, a statement against old people in politics, but I've always thought the idea that we let old people world is perfect evidence for why retirement as a general practice is stupid. I mean we love to talk about how much we hate our politicians and how stupid they are, but does one person in a million actually think the younger politicians are better? A lot of the mind and body in old age runs on a "use it or lose it" principle and I think fully retiring is deeply unhealthy. So many older people who decide to stay active are still as sharp as tacks (Thomas Sowell, John Stossel), it's when they give up on life they start to decay. My dad tried to retire early, but found he just wasn't happy and went back to working part time. Study after study after study shows "work" is key to happiness.
