  1. Taiwan and South Korea benefited from Japan's meticulous land registration as well as the KOSEKI system. In some countries, they can't tax land efficiently and effectively because they're not fully aware of land ownership and transactions. Some countries aren't even aware of its accurate population size. Ironically, if Japan administered the Philippines for one or two generations, it would have been as prosperous as Taiwan and South Korea.
