In Japan "KASAGO" ("Marbled Rockfish") is a delicacy. KASAGO is the not identical to Lionfish but should be similar, and is known to have poisonous stings. There are a number of ways KASAGO is served in Japan, but the most common ways are fried (a.k.a. "KARA-AGE"), soy-sauce simmered (a.k.a. "NI-TSUKE"), and SASHIMI. Perhaps you can invite a few Japanese chefs.

What part of the world are you talking about? In Japan, kelp is called "Konbu" and is used for everything. But again, I don't know if other cuisines are so keen on using kelp.

If their ancestors settled in this region in the 13-14th century, weren't their ancestors actually Turko-Mongols who now speak Slavic?

I suspect most of the pearls gets sold to Japan, so the buyers require Japanese quality.

It's not the same. We traditionally use dried SHIITAKE for DASHI or broth in Japan, so high-end restaurants will only use authentic ones. Indoor ones are a cheaper substitute, but they don't have the same richness in flavor and aroma.

@bartlett2335 In reality, native English speakers often have a distinct accent when they pronounce Japanese words (and vice versa). Not only is the vowel butchered, but more importantly the pitch accent is off. In comparison, phonetic overlap makes it much easier for Slavic and Romance/Latin native speakers to pronounce Japanese words more clearly and elegantly. In most cases HAGORMO will be pronounced Heygo-RO-mor by an American, and Hagoro-MO by an Italian or French speaker. This narrator has a very good understanding of Japanese phonetics and intonation (i.e. pitch accent).

The fishing cost, process/labor cost, shipping and storage cost, and the middleman cut...adds up quickly.

She sounds so classy and elegant. And her pronunciation of Japanese words, names, places....is really good.

@Josh-ql2np Please leave Japan out of this argument. We don't wish to be caught in between the Saudis and Americans. But I understand the reason why Saudis desire an air-conditioned indoor city, like a man-made colony on mars. If I'm not mistaken, the old/ancient architecture with wind catching roofs (in Egypt) were designed so that their building were underground. If I were designing the city, I would be building an underground cave city in the mountains (instead of an artificial ski resort.)

Expensive BONSAI costs nearly US$1mn in Japan. It's always been a hobby for the rich. US$26,000 sounds cheap for scissors that easily last over a lifetime and can be passed down generations. It's like a family sword. But again, I understand these concepts may not make sense for people outside of Japan.

You should try US airlines. They'll run you over with their food cart and blame your for it.

It depends. Some dogs feel more comfortable in tight/dark spaces.

@sonny9054 I thought it was because KOBE was one of the 5 port cities open to foreigners.

I appreciate the fact she's pronouncing Japanese words correctly.

@lerunya17 Thank you. That is quite interesting. I mistakenly assumed from observing the women's clothing, headscarf, and rugs, which looked somewhat similar to Tatar/Turkic culture (as well as little bit of Iranian.)
