@stillwaitingforblackmetalr2503 Japanese industrial investments on the peninsular was heavily focused on Northern parts of the Korean peninsular. Conversely southern side's focus was more on modernizing agriculture. Much of Japanese factories and industrial infrastructure were located in North Korea, which is why North Korean GDP was larger than South Korean GDP before the Korean War.
