@sinoroman It's falling apart in the present.

@rw3899 You and your friends live in a bubble. The USSR had many generations and failed to create good Soviet citizens. The way the EU treats Poland and Hungary right now shows it is in its death throes.

@TechTehScience The US still maintains state forces commanded by state governors, it just doesn't call them militias anymore. Yes, military integration has happened before, among people that had a common interest and put trust in each other to work towards that interest. Such trust does not exist among EU members, and cannot exist so long as the economic interests of the western nations are in direct conflict with the security interests of the eastern nations.

Uhh, you mean like the British Empire used to be? Probably never because the colonies decided to split and govern themselves. You're still technically united under Queen Lizzie.

@jdlc903 Because Israel is an American colony. All that money is given to Israel so Israel can spend it on American equipment and technology. The Israelis put the equipment to use locally and report back to the American manufacturers, who then improve it according to feedback. So in a way it is extra money given to American military industry but outside of their defense budget.

@jdlc903 Perhaps you don't fully understand what I wrote. Israel doesn't keep that money, it spends it on American military equipment. The money ends up in the US military-industrial complex. Israel serves the purpose of a money laundromat.

@martinfalkenberg7896 And who would fund this EU army? But more importantly who would command this EU army? Guaranteed nobody from the eastern countries, therefore no one that we can trust.

@martinfalkenberg7896 "an EU army need not replace NATO" Then what purpose would an EU army have? A pointless expenditure. "France as the largest contributor might have the largest influence" Yet another reason for it to not exist.

@martinfalkenberg7896 1. False 2. False 3. False

Laughable.

@adrien5834 It's not a double edged sword at all. Russia will never not have demand for its resources, so it can cease exports to Europe anytime it wants. The EU has no counterlever of pressure because sanctions do not affect Russia, most of its commerce is done internally or within its sphere of former Soviet republics.

@adrien5834 "US nukes were built by European scientists" They were not in Europe when they built those nukes. In fact, they were very happy to not be in Europe anymore. You are delusional if you think US military technology is reliant on European contribution. And yes, there is such a thing as military technology. Radar, infrared, ultrasound, stainless steel are all products of military technological development. And you can measure how much we lag behind by expenditure and results.
