We don’t have an engine that can constantly accelerate/decelerate at 1G.

The Mars atmosphere makes re-entry so tough because there is enough to burn up the spacecraft as it drops out of orbit but not enough for parachutes to get you safely to the ground. The dust is razor sharp and electrically charged so it sticks to stuff. Door seals and space suits will get trashed.

The first people to reach the Americas were Norwegian. Vikings got to North America around AD 1000. They also settled Greenland but moved out after AD 1300 due to the much cooler Little Ice Age climate period developing.

The snag with slow accelerating thrusters is they only get you half way there. The craft has to slow down (or overshoot Mars) so the other half of the journey is decelerating.

Solar panels are 50% as effective because Mars is further from the sun. They will also get dulled and abraded by that grinder wheel dust.

We populations on earth who live with high background radiation. Ramsar Iran for example. How do they compare on the cancer heart disease lines compared to most of us.
