  1. It would need nuclear power. No problem with molten salt tech. PWR far too heavy to get there and far too fussy to control. Plutonium 238 RTGs as used on deep space missions is far too inefficient (low power) and we don’t have much of the stuff.

  2. SLS is a make-work project for the makers of rockets. They don’t want reusable. Why would they when NASA hands them cheques for disposable rockets.

  3. The Lunar night lasts 14 days so a surface moon base will need a power source. Kirk Sorensen rediscovered the molten salt nuclear reactor when he was tasked by NASA to solve the problem.
