Now take a look at the Elysium and Moltex fast reactors which burn the irradiated “waste” nuclear fuel. They are molten salt types - Intrinsically safe, cheap to build and cheap to operate and never need a gram of new fuel.

Fusion will never be cheap and it’s also radioactive. Waste nuke reactor fuel only happens because PWRs cannot extract more than 4% of the fissile energy. Fast spectrum reactors like Moltex Waste Burner can extract 95 of the remaining 96%. The waste has a 1/2 life of 30 years vs 30,000 years for PWR used fuel. It’s intrinsically safe works at atmospheric pressure and cannot overheat even if the load (cooling) disconnected at full power.
