  1. The Shuttle was a great idea but the actuality was an engineered bodge. The solid boosters were sort of reused but many parts got scrapped. They are also horribly polluting. The fuel tank was scrapped on every flight. The orbiter was so untrustworthy, that it had to be pretty much rebuilt after every flight.

  2. In five years time, SpaceX will have switched to ethanol thrusters. Their booster rockets are already re-usable. Their current trials and tribulations with Starship show just how hard it is to re-use the main rocket.
